Maintenance Technician

Job Description:
Provide general maintenance and facilities support for SSCI.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine repairs on office equipment, furniture, and fixtures (e.g., fixing doors, desks, chairs).
- Handle minor plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging sinks, or replacing faucets.
- Repair lighting, including replacing bulbs and troubleshooting electrical fixtures.
- Regularly inspect and address general wear and tear in the office, ensuring all areas are safe and operational.
- Handle small painting or touch-up projects when required.
- Ensure that common areas, conference rooms, and kitchens are clean and in good working order.
- Assemble and disassemble office furniture as needed.
- Install shelves, pictures, bulletin boards, or other fixtures as directed.
- Ensure office compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Help rearrange furniture, move desks, or set up workstations when needed.
- Assist in relocating or moving equipment to different areas of the office.
- Coordinate with external service providers or contractors for larger repairs or specialized tasks.
- Supervise or assist in overseeing external vendors working on-site (e.g., electricians, plumbers).
- Monitor office and kitchen supplies, including stationery, cleaning products, and other essential items.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to assess usage and identify needs.
- Manage the ordering process for supplies, ensuring timely restocking to prevent shortages.
- Able to work flexible hours, approximately 10-25 hours per week, based on the needs of the office.
- Must be able to work occasional weekend or after-hours work on an as needed basis if urgent repairs are required.
- This role is ideal for someone with a proactive attitude and the ability to handle multiple small projects and repairs efficiently.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Prior experience in maintenance, handyman, or similar roles.
- Prior experience operating hand and power tools.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bend, stoop, and perform manual tasks.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
