M.S. Walker is currently hiring for a Maintenance Technician/Merge Operator who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of automated distribution lines while maintaining a focus on safety and quality. The Maintenance Technician/Merge Operator must demonstrate proficiency on all packaging/distribution lines and must have the ability to troubleshoot and operate industrial equipment.

Shift available: Third shift: Monday-Thursday 8:00 pm - 6:00 am

* Bonus: $300 at 30 calendar days, $400 at 60 calendar days, and $500 upon joining the Union (estimated 4 months of work)

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for consistently meeting daily distribution schedule.
  • Set up and operate all automated distribution line equipment.
  • Start up, change over, and shut down distribution lines, including closing out a packaging shift.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and light industrial maintenance on automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot distribution line automated equipment.
  • Coach General Workers on distribution line best practices.
  • Communicate effectively and work well with other departments.
  • Calculate wave cut offs and keep track of production.
  • Coordinate routine daily maintenance of equipment and log all maintenance issues.
  • Contribute to and be receptive of continual innovation and improvements.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience operating automated industrial distribution lines.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or adjust work schedule based on business needs.
  • Advanced knowledge and operation of automated industrial distribution lines.
  • Proficient knowledge of all distribution line standard operating procedures.
  • Experience using Microsoft applications.
  • Valid MA driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Leadership skills a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent at multi-tasking.
  • Proper use of PPE.
  • Comfortable working outside and being generally active.
  • Frequently climb stairs and occasionally work on platforms < 20 ft.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50lbs.
