What You’ll Do
As a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for 8th Grade Math at Veritas Prep, you will have the vital role of delivering high-quality instruction in a supportive and structured environment. During your time, you will be responsible for implementing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and ensuring that all students are engaged and able to meet the academic standards set forth by the curriculum. You will work closely with fellow teachers and administrators to maintain consistency in the classroom and provide students the continuity they need in their learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and effective math lessons that align with the established curriculum
- Utilizing diverse instructional strategies to meet the varied learning needs of students
- Managing classroom behavior to create a positive learning environment
- Assessing student understanding and mastery of content and adjusting instruction as necessary
- Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress
- Collaborating with other staff members to support the needs of students
- Participating in professional development to grow as an educator
Requirements
What You’ll Need (Qualifications)
- A strong belief in the potential of all students to succeed academically
- A genuine passion for teaching and commitment to education
- Experience teaching or working with middle school students (preferred)
- Competence in math instruction and ability to convey concepts effectively
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- A valid Massachusetts teaching licensure for Mathematics at the middle school level (preferred) or eligibility for such licensure
- Current authorization to work in the United States – candidates must have this authorization by their first day of employment
