Full Job Description

At MHA, we are dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to individuals in our residential homes. Our Floating Medication Passers play a vital role in ensuring that our clients receive their medications safely and on time.

Position Overview:
The Floating Medication Passer will travel between 3-4 residential sites daily to administer afternoon and evening medications. This position is essential for maintaining the health and well-being of the individuals we serve.

Job Type: Part-time (Sunday-Tuesday, 2 PM - 10 PM)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medication Administration: Complete the daily medication schedule to ensure timely administration, and communicate with your Supervisor to address any barriers that may arise.
  • Compliance with MAP Guidelines: Follow all Medication Administration Protocol (MAP) guidelines, including the “5 Rights” (Right Person, Right Medication, Right Time, Right Dose, Right Route). Conduct all required checks as outlined in MAP training.
  • Reporting: Professionally document and report any medication occurrences to nursing and supervisory staff.
  • Inventory Management: Regularly monitor medication supplies and follow procedures for reordering medications as needed.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all medications administered, including scheduled and as-needed doses, following MAP procedures.
  • Collaboration: Engage with nursing staff for ongoing MAP support and guidance.
  • Safe Driving: Adhere to safe driving practices as per MHA policies and submit mileage reimbursement promptly.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; a college degree in human services or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of six months of relevant experience, particularly with individuals facing brain injuries, mental health challenges, or developmental disabilities.
  • Certification: Current MAP certification with a strong track record of safe medication administration.
  • Skills:
    • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Adaptability to meet the evolving needs of program participants.
    • Compassionate interpersonal skills, patience, and a caring attitude.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, acceptable driving record, and sufficient auto insurance during work hours.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
