Your Title: Auto Liability Adjuster
Our/Your Location: Remote/Anywhere within the US
Your hours: Monday – Friday 8 hours/day
Compensation: $70K+ plus benefits health/dental, other optional coverages, 15 vacation days, allocated sick days
You Report To: Assistant Vice President of Claims
This position is responsible for handling personal auto damage claims from the first notice of loss through resolution/settlement and payment process. Claim types include multi-vehicle (2 or more cars) auto damage with unclear liability. Will also handle more complex auto damage claims such as non-owned vehicles, fire/theft, and potential fraud as well as non-auto, property-related damage. You will provide quality claims handling throughout the claim lifecycle (i.e., customer contacts, coverage, investigation, evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution), maintaining full compliance with internal and external quality standards and state-specific regulations.
What you will do:
Your duties include, but are not limited to:
- Customer Contacts/Experience: Deliver consistent service quality throughout the claim lifecycle, including but not limited to prompt contact, explaining the process, setting expectations, on-going communication, follow-through, and meeting commitments to achieve optimal outcome on every file. Fulfill specific service commitments made to certain accounts.
- Coverage Analysis: Review and analyze coverage and apply policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements for auto damage claims assigned mainly in Massachusetts. Address proper application of any deductibles and verify benefits available and coverage limits that will apply. Confirm priority of coverage (i.e., primary, secondary, concurrent), and take into consideration other issues relevant to the jurisdiction.
- Investigation/Evaluation: Investigate each claim to obtain relevant facts necessary to determine coverage, causation, extent of liability/establishment of negligence, damages, contribution potential, and exposure with respect to the various coverages provided through prompt contact with appropriate parties (e.g., policyholders, accounts, claimants, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, agents, etc.). Take recorded statements as necessary.
- Recognize and request appropriate inspection type based on the details of the loss, and coordinate the appraisal process. Maintain oversight of the repair process, and ensure appropriate expense handling.
- As appropriate, refer claims beyond authority based on exposure and established guidelines. Recognize and forward appropriate files to subject matter experts (i.e., Subrogation, SIU, Property, Adverse Subrogation, etc.).
- Reserving: Establish timely and maintain appropriate claim and expense reserves. Manage file inventory and expense reserves by utilizing an effective diary system, documenting claim file activities to resolve claim in a timely manner.
- Negotiation/Resolution: Determine settlement amounts based upon appraisal estimate, negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits to insureds and claimants. As appropriate, write denial letters, Reservation of Rights, and other necessary correspondence to insureds and claimants.
- May provide support to other parts of auto line of business (e.g., Total Loss, Salvage, etc.) when needed.

What you bring
- Fluent in Portuguese and/or Spanish required
- A minimum of 3+ years of previous auto claims handling experience
- High School Diploma/GED, or higher
- Adjuster’s license (preferred, but not required; any state)
- Demonstrated ownership attitude and customer centric response to all assigned tasks
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities
- Attention to detail ensuring accuracy
- Verbal and written communication skills
