SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller is a professional who aids in the formulation and compliance assurance of internal controls and provides support to accounting management. This individual must be a forward-thinking, career-oriented person. Responsible for a variety of duties, this professional is reliable, efficient, and extremely organized.
This position reports to the Controller.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage operational data and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Provide labor analysis and job costing for three production facilities.
- Provide technical system support throughout the company, as needed.
- Manage and improve operational procedures, documenting data flow.
- Help oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closings and preparation of all related financial reporting packages.
- Prepare GL journal entries and reconciliations for designated accounts.
- Assist with the development and evaluation or budgets; prepare budget reports.
- Assist in building/improving ERP system and procedures.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and Manage system hardware and software applications; troubleshoot system issues as needed.
- Perform other duties as required within the accounting department, assist with special projects as necessary.
Requirements
- BA in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 8+ years, experience in accounting or finance, with increase in responsibility over time
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferred; food manufacturing, a plus.
- Advance understanding of systems (NAV, Pivot Table, Excel, Power BI, Crystal Reports)
- Experience overseeing payroll, working knowledge of ADP or similar systems, a plus.
- Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired
- Experience with cost accounting
- Working knowledge of logistics and inventory software, preferred
- Firm grasp of supply chain, inventory control, distribution, and management principles
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
- Able to manage priorities and complexities, strong multitasking skills.
- Proactive thinker, exceptional logic reasoning and problem-solving skill set.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds.
- Work up to a 10-hour workday: standing/walking most of the day.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 30-32 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators)
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
