Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant operations in Boston, USA. The company’s mission is to make biology accessible to everyone through desktop bioprinting. We are beginning this mission by making proteins accessible through the launch and on-going development of our eProtein desktop bioprinting platform. eProtein promises to be a breakthrough protein printing technology that brings rapid prototyping to the life science benchtop and accelerates the drug discovery process. This opportunity is for a General Technician to operate under the supervision of the Senior Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping out lab equipment maintained and calibrated to be ready for production and upcoming research experiments. This individual will be a member of the operations team responsible for supporting the creation of novel chemical, mechanical, and electrical systems as well as testing and prototype construction.

This role will suit an individual who has experience and drive working in a fast-paced biotech environment with a track record of execution and teamwork.

About the role

  • Prepare lab equipment for upcoming production and experiments
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment
  • Maintain lab by picking-up, cleaning and organizing
  • Keep laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and scheduling repairs
  • Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
  • Complete projects by assisting the project team and attending and participating in group and project meetings.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum 1 year laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment or related industry
  • Mathematic and measurement skills
  • Knowledge of computer research and analysis programs
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality
  • Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed
  • Ability to keep detailed records
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with lab equipment
  • Good teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Associate degree


Clean room experience for this role is a plus but will NOT disqualify someone necessarily. Given the right person, with good attitude and industry experience, we can facilitate the right training to up skill into the role.
