Indian Creek School is an independent, co-ed day school in which 560 students age 3 to Grade 12 partner with innovative teachers in an outstanding educational program. Located on a beautiful, 114-acre campus in Crownsville, Maryland (just north of Annapolis), ICS students are nurtured and known as individuals while being challenged to discover their passions, purpose, and potential. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the collaborative Upper School faculty, teaching four sections of mathematics, likely to include Algebra 1 and Statistics.
  • Show interest in knowing, caring for, challenging, and supporting students as individuals.
  • Plan and implement effective lessons and units.
  • Use a variety of assessments to measure and respond to student learning and engagement.
  • Integrate technology such as Desmos, ALEKS, STAR to assess and build student understanding.
  • Use ICS technology systems including the School’s Learning Management System to provide students with course materials and feedback.
  • Team with the math department in designing curriculum and elevating student confidence and performance in mathematics.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members.
  • Work with the Upper School Principal and faculty to ensure high quality education and an engaging experience for students.
  • Write student reports as required.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to a group of students.
  • Attend all divisional, departmental, and school faculty meetings including professional development days.

Requirements

  • Ability and flexibility to teach Algebra 1 and Statistics as well as other courses in our math department.
  • Resilient, mission-driven, and proactive in creating and implementing an innovative and research-based mathematics curriculum.
  • Collaborative by nature, and an effective communicator with students, teachers, administrators, and families.
  • Proficient user of technology.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience (preferred but not required).
  • Genuine excitement for working with students.
  • College degree, preferably advanced degree, in mathematics or a related field.
  • Educational philosophy which aligns with the mission and core values of ICS.
  • Must pass Federal and State background and compliance with MSDE Employment History Review.
