Full Job Description
Site: Naval Surface Warfare Center IHD Main
Duties:
- Prepare and/or provide editorial and quality assurance for various publications, identification guides, preliminary manuals, specifications, technical reports, training materials, and other technical documentation in accordance with applicable government specifications.
- Ensure that technical and visual information (graphics, tables, videos, thumbnails, and super thumbnails) adhere and conform to established writing, editing, and formatting standards.
- Coordinate and communicate frequently with various Subject Matter Experts.
- Conduct independent research using various databases, websites, and repositories.
- Create, maintain, and update bibliographic material.
- Collaborate with colleagues and fellow technical writers to ensure consistency through the teams.
- Provide additional input and draft proposed changes or recommendations to improve writing standards.
Requirements
- An associate degree in technical writing, or other related discipline.
- Additional years of work experience may be substituted for a degree.
- At least one (1) year of technical writing/editing experience required.
- An active DoD Secret clearance is Required. The selected candidate may start with interim secret clearance.
- The candidate selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- The candidate selected must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision or guidance from Subject Matter Experts.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Light to moderate lifting may be required.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
