Quality Manager | Landover, MD | On-Site FTE

Tata Consumer products is on a journey to become a multi category Premier FMCG company, and this role plays a key part in driving our Landover plant performance against Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental goals and external standards.

  • Type of Role: People manager
  • Direct reports: 3
  • Complexity of Role: 1 Manufacturing plant, 2 externally assessed standards, multiple regulatory compliance bodies, collaboration with 6 internal functions.
  • Primary Stakeholders: US Supply Chain Team, Landover factory

What are the Key Responsibilities of this role?

External Standards & Compliance

  • The development, ongoing management & compliance of the Landover plant to the following Standards,
    • BRC(or equivalent GFSI) – Food Safety
    • RFA, Kosher, Organic standards
  • Conformance of the Landover plant to all of the following requirements
    • Food Safety Legislation
  • Management of external relationships relating to all compliance bodies
  • Upholding the performance of the plant against all internal TCOC policies

Quality

  • Development and management of the Landover Quality systems and standards.
  • Development and management of the Landover supplier & manufacturing quality systems and standards.
  • Management of Consumer & Customer complaints.
  • Food Safety defense and control systems.
  • Management of product quality specifications.

Internal Performance

  • The development and administration of internal audit programmes that monitors compliance to all required protocols held under external standards and legislative requirements
  • The development and administration of internal audit programmes that ensure highest levels of compliance to internal quality standards
  • Liaison with the CI and Training Manager to provide key support and audit for relevant training programmes.

People Management

  • Coaching and development of direct reporting roles

Business Support

  • Post embedded factory improvement there will be a requirement to provide Lean programmes in other non-factory functions such as Sales, Planning, Distribution and Marketing.
  • Provide support for the organization TBEM submissions and development through implementation of noted OFI’s

Requirements

What are the Critical success factors for the Role ?

  • 5-7+ years minimum experience in FMCG environment
  • Qualifications at graduate level in Quality / Food Science related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with GFSI
  • Relevant experience with government regulatory requirements in food processing
  • Audit qualification desirable
  • Proven track record in delivering ongoing and sustainable accreditations to external standards and legislation
  • Proven track record of developing good working relationships with external bodies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong people leadership and development skills
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset and approach to processes
  • Positive mindset and flexibility to adapt in a dynamic and demanding growth environment
  • Desire to take responsibility and ownership and make a difference
  • Highly numerate and financially literate
  • Excellent report writing, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated strength in setting example for others
  • Ability to influence others
  • Improvement related certification is desirable (i.e. Lean qualification, Lean Six Sigma etc)
