Middle School French Teacher (Part-Time)

Description & Details:

Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. The school emphasizes academic challenge, joy of learning, and education of well-rounded women of faith and action.  The Holy Child community welcomes students and families of different faiths and diverse backgrounds.  In keeping with the philosophy of our founder Cornelia Connelly, Holy Child values the uniqueness of each individual and fosters a life of service to others. 

Responsibilities include:

Teach 3 sections of French to middle school students.

Possible French Enrichment Club or advisory

Implement creative and innovative student-centered teaching practices that achieve learning outcomes based on ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.

Work collaboratively with colleagues within the World Language Department to ensure an integrated and cohesive curriculum.

Foster an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women. 

Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, faculty and staff.

Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned.

Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

Bachelor of Arts degree in French or a related field and native or near native fluency in the language. Master’s Degree preferred; MSDE certification preferred.

Three (3) years teaching experience at the middle school level using core practices of world language teaching that emphasize cultural authenticity and develop language proficiency.

Ability to connect the curriculum to real-world scenarios and student background knowledge. 

Proven experience engaging students in class experiences that foster critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Genuine enthusiasm, personal warmth, and passion for teaching and inspiring a love of learning.

Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and parents.

Commitment to embrace the school’s mission and values.

Commitment to professional growth to enhance student learning.
