MARC Data Conversion Consultant

LAC Federal is currently seeking an experienced MARC Data Conversion Consultant to work for a federal library in Bethesda, MD. The Consultant will be responsible for supporting a project to improve cataloguing operations specifically related to MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data (MARC21). The goal is to deliver a proof of concept (POC) demonstrating a method for efficiently converting XML records to MARC 21 format. This is a temporary part time remote position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as a consultant with our partners to successfully convert XML records to MARC 21 format
• Attend meetings to discuss solutions to record conversions
• Document processes involved in successful MARC 21 conversion
• Assist in problem solving and providing solutions to clientele
• Offer expertise to clients in MARC 21 format

Requirements

• Working experience in cataloging and advanced knowledge of MARC 21 format
• Experience in problem solving, interacting with clientele in solution methods
• Experience in working in an Integrated Library System (ILS)
