Full Job Description
LAC Federal is currently seeking an experienced Electronic Resources Librarian to work for a federal library in Bethesda, MD. The Electronic Resources Librarian will be primarily responsible for managing e-resources metadata and access. Although the bulk of the work will involve e-resource management, other primary tasks include ensuring that records for all licenses and subscriptions are accurate and up-to-date. The Librarian will work directly with bibliographic, acquisitions, and electronic inventory data in collaboration with other acquisitions and electronic resource librarians. This is a full-time, benefited position eligible for fully remote work. The majority of responsibilities and duties will be performed remotely but limited travel to Bethesda, MD may be anticipated.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support clientele in e-resouces management -
- Participate in the activities of a Collection Development Licensing Team to review new and existing license agreements for electronic resources and services, ensuring that they align with the library's policies and procedure
- Makes recommendations as to whether or not a proposed license is acceptable and whether or not it meets the library's budgetary and collection development needs
- Researches and recommends alternative resources
- Work with vendors to obtain and review the terms of licenses for electronic resources and ensure prompt payment -Answer licensing questions from other library staff
- Submit monthly reports of tasks and accomplishments
Requirements
- Master's in Library and Information Science or the equivalent strongly preferred but not required
- Must have at least 4 years of combined education and professional experience in the following
- At least 2 years of professional library experience in acquiring Electronic Resources, preferably in a government or academic setting
- At least 1 year of demonstrated experience with reviewing and negotiating license terms, preferably in a government or academic library
- Experience working with Library Integrated Platforms
- Demonstrated understanding of current tools, models, and best practices related to licensing of continuing resources
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Copyright Law as it applies to licensing electronic resources for libraries.
- Familiarity with different acquisition and access models for electronic resources.
