This is a full-time, 12-month position beginning July 1, 2024. Indian Creek School is an independent, co-ed day school in which 560 students age 3 to Grade 12 partner with innovative teachers in an outstanding educational program. Located on a beautiful, 114-acre campus in Crownsville, Maryland (just north of Annapolis), ICS students are nurtured and known as individuals while being challenged to discover their passions, purpose, and potential. The Director of Marketing will report to the Director of Advancement and work collaboratively with the Head of School and Director of Communications.  The school has adopted a 5-year strategic plan and this position will be critical in the execution of the plan. 

Requirements

Overall responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct the strategic vision, day-to-day operations, and brand messaging of marketing at Indian Creek School.
  • Serve as lead brand ambassador for the School, protecting and strengthening its reputation.
  • Serve as the lead storyteller ensuring all communications reflect the School’s mission, voice, and brand.
  • Develop a comprehensive multi-tier marketing plan to support the individual initiatives across various divisions and departments, including Lower School, Middle School, Upper School, advancement, admissions, athletics, etc. 
  • Partner with the Advancement team to develop an outreach marketing plan aimed at enhancing alumni engagement and giving. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Admission Office to provide marketing strategy and guidance
  • Develop an outreach marketing plan aimed at enhancing alumni engagement and giving. 
  • Work in partnership with the Advancement and Admission offices to further develop and oversee the School’s CRM database growth and development to maximize engagement.
  • Oversee the School’s paid advertising strategy (Admissions, Advancement, Summer Programs). Develop marketing content for website, social media, and digital/print ads.
  • Conduct quarterly competitive analysis and monitor trends. Establish goals to pivot marketing initiatives based on analysis conclusions. 
  • As part of the 5-year strategic plan, manage the selection and recruitment of a third-party marketing partner for initiatives associated with refreshing the branding of the school. 
  • Manage the Indian Creek School website (Blackbaud) with an eye for detail, consistency, user experience, and professional appearance.
    • Maintain a regular schedule of website redesigns and optimizations.
    • Ensure content and photos are updated regularly and accurately reflect and positively portray the School’s program.
    • Partner with cross-departmental teams to update content as needed; assist with internal training on Blackbaud platform.
    • Assist with any external (parent) website questions or issues.
  • Direct the School’s social media operation and strategy including:
    • Developing, curating, and reviewing content and strategy
    • Daily monitoring of social channels to respond to comments, messages, and posts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Oversee the School’s online brand presence by monitoring external channels of communication including social media (local Facebook groups), Niche.com, google business, Greatschools, Reddit, Privateschoolreview, Wikipedia, etc.
  • Oversee all brand collteral, print, and digital marketing including on-campus signage, digital branding, print publications, etc.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Communications, develop a sustainable video and photography content operation.
    • Coordinate and oversee projects with internal/external partners and vendors including videographers and photographers, etc.
  • Design materials as appropriate/ensure brand consistency with external designers.
  • Serve on school event committees to ensure branded representation of the School.

·        Manage the marketing budget.

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience and a proven strength in marketing and communication strategy, implementation, and analysis.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, namely the ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing across departments and constituencies.
  • Graphic design experience.
  • Experience managing a website CMS.
  • Experience with HTML and email platforms.
  • Knowledge of navigating Google Analytics and other web performance tools.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous simultaneous projects.
  • Experience using various communication and marketing platforms and technologies.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills, as well as valuable and current insights from the field of marketing and communications
  • Collaborative by nature, and an effective communicator with students, teachers, administrators, and families. 
  • Proficiency in technology.
  • Federal and State background check clearance and MSDE Employment History review.
