Full Job Description
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Louisiana Controls Team.. The ideal candidate for the Controls Specialist will be results driven, motivated by technical challenges and they will use their excellent interpersonal communication, organization and problem solving skills to support the facility in day to day technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for Foxboro DCS, associated interfaces, and various PLC applications.
The Controls Specialist will be reportable to the Sr Technical Representative and have responsibilities for the following tasks:
- Provide Support for Manufacturing Process (hardware and software) managing various Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) based control systems for critical manufacturing production facilities.
- Perform preventative maintenance on the control systems.
- Monitor and maintain system performance of control systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing interdepartmental users requirements and business needs.
- Working close with Engineers, I&E technician and specialties to eliminate/mitigate reducing gap opportunities.
- Provide technical support and recommendations in assessing new requirements for projects and initiatives to support and enhance existing systems such:
- Support the OT Cyber Security Process.
- Build and/or modify all elements of control system configuration: I/O, graphics, Logic, regulatory control, calculation, and programs.
- Networking communication
- Must have ability to manage a large workload and complete and documented work assignments and/or projects in a timely and prioritized manner and communicate proactively and effectively to the interested parties such:
- Manage projects - defining scope, stakeholder analysis, objectives, timeline, testing phase, implementation, and evaluation.
- Initiate, execute, and review Management of Changes as needed. Will maintain Instrument, Power Panel, and Critical Controls databases, etc.
- Update with redline drawing and request modification of the Drafting equipment, for the replacement of obsolete equipment.
- Maintain un-stocked spare parts for Control Systems, PLC’s and Safety Systems
- Maintain the integrity of the system: documentation, e, server patches, database, backups.
- Perform system repairs under adverse conditions (i.e. bad weather, plant upset, after hours, no parts, power failure, and loss of view).
- Communicate system related critical information (i.e. turnover) verbally and in writing.
Requirements
- 3+ Years Industrial Mfg. Work Experience with PLC and DCS systems
- 3+ years’ Experience in Chemical or Paper Industry/Polymers Preferred
- Controls engineer or Assoc. in Applied Science in Controls or Equivalent
- Strong Leadership/Organizational Skills
- Must be self-starter with high level of initiative including hands on at the field
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills
- Computer Skills in Outlook Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong Troubleshooting Skills
- Ability to work in fast paced, team oriented industrial environment.
- SAP experience preferred
- OSISOFT-PI Software Experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Cause Failure Analysis Preferred
- Respond positively to requests for emergency help (i.e. call-outs).
