Full Job Description

The Materials Team Lead at KMG Fabrication will oversee the daily operations of the materials department, ensuring efficient and effective management of materials, inventory, and supply chain processes. This role is pivotal in maintaining production schedules, ensuring the availability of necessary materials, and optimizing inventory levels.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of materials handlers, coordinators, and inventory specialists.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and performance feedback.
  • Implement training programs for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all inventory transactions in the ERP system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials.
  • Work closely with production planners to forecast material requirements and prevent shortages.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of materials handling.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and optimize material flow.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized materials storage area to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety training and audits to promote a culture of safety within the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or supply chain, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other elements.
