Job Title: Purchasing Agent
Location: Richmond, KY - Corporate Location and Somerset - Satellite Location
Reports To: Purchasing Manager

Summary
Position Summary:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for coordinating the procurement of goods, materials, and services for the organization. This role ensures that supplies are purchased at the best possible price, quality, and delivery terms while maintaining strong vendor relationships. The Purchasing Agent also collaborates with internal departments to meet the company’s operational needs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Process Management:
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers.
- Review purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to meet operational deadlines.
- Vendor Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain relationships with reliable vendors.
- Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers as needed.
- Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
- Analyze pricing proposals to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager and Director of Distribution to align procurement strategies with budgetary constraints.
- Seek opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Inventory and Stock Management:
- Coordinate with warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Forecast purchasing needs based on production schedules and historical trends.
- Address overstock or shortages proactively.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and organized purchasing records.
- Prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and vendor performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with various departments (e.g., warehouse, service, projects, sales) to identify purchasing needs.
- Participate in meetings to align procurement activities with organizational goals.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP software systems, CRM software and Google Workspace.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of market trends and vendor sourcing strategies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work Environment:
This position is typically office-based but may involve occasional travel to other warehouse locations.

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
· Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
· Strong communication skills.
· Proficiency with ERP software systems, CRM software and Google Workspace.
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
· Knowledge of market trends and vendor sourcing strategies.
Normal Work Days / Hours:
- Typically Monday through Friday
- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Overtime as needed to meet business requirements
