Mize CPAs Inc. was recently named a Top 200 Workplace for 2024 by USA Today! We are a leading regional accounting and IT firm with offices in Topeka and Overland Park, Kansas. Our firm works with clients in a number of industries and has a rapidly growing restaurant and hospitality division that serves clients nationwide.
We are looking for an in-person only Tax Administrative Assistant in the Overland Park office. Full-time availability is needed, 40 hours per week. This position can only be performed in the office.
If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have experience creating, processing, and tracking tax documents; onboarding support; and other administrative duties, such as greeting clients and answering phones.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the office as assigned
- Provide relief/backup to Office Coordinator as needed, which includes but is not limited to receive and greet visitors, answer and route telephone calls and relay messages, and schedule appointments
- Prepare and track tax engagement letters and process annual returns
- Prepare and track unclaimed property engagement letters and assist with due diligence process
- Assist with year-end reporting procedures, including fringe benefit letter processing and tracking and distributing 1099 packets
- Prepare correspondence and reports as required
- Document imaging to Virtual Cabinet, Report Center, and other locations as required in an accurate and timely manner so they can be retrieved efficiently
- Must be available to work the hours required to meet deadlines for work assigned; requires flexibility and working hours that may include weekend days, especially during busy periods
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- In-office work during training and thereafter, due to the personal interaction necessary within department
- Individuals at this level normally have at least a High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year office experience
- Proficiency in MS Office and utilizing office equipment
- Excellent typing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a CPA firm or professional office environment
- Working knowledge of office practices and procedures
