Drafting Engineer

The Drafting Engineer works with a team of engineers to design, build, and test drill rigs for the environmental, geotechnical, exploration, and water well markets.   The successful candidate for this position will enjoy working with other engineers to take a project from concept to completion, taking into account budgeting and operational considerations. This individual will enjoy working with and around “big iron” (we’re not making little widgets) and will focus on the drawings, BOM, Routings, and other needed engineering documentation for a design.  The Drafting Engineer will also work on smaller design projects and will enjoy getting out in the shop to test and refine their projects.   

Responsibilities   

• Create Drawings, Bill of Materials, and Routings for components and assemblies.   
• Work independently and alongside other engineers to design, develop, and document new ideas, as well as improve existing products.  
• Work with Production to update drawings, and document production work processes.  
• Occasionally work with sales or service to address customer issues.  
• Work with other engineers to test and document machines.  
• Grow in understanding of our systems, processes, and products.  (Laying the groundwork for growth in the role)  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR an Associate Degree in Drafting.  
• Strong technical base in 3D CAD and engineering fundamentals.  
• Experience using 2D CAD.  
• Experience with hydraulics and/or machine controls is helpful but not required.  
• SAP experience is helpful.  
• Natural curiosity and a desire to learn is critical to this position.  
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through.  
• Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.  
• Positive, cooperative attitude (especially in pressure situations) with a commitment to quality work and achieving deadlines.  
• Passion for improvement.  Inspires others towards excellence.  
• Able to work 44-hour work week.
