Overview / Job Summary:
The Adjunct Faculty Instructor brings subject matter expertise to the classroom and is responsible for teaching automotive service technology courses, ensuring adherence to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, and upholding professional and ethical academic behaviors.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Managing and supervising students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
- Keeping students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policy.
- Developing, revising, and recommending curriculum enhancements that align with course objectives and enhance student learning.
- Ensuring that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard and integrates all necessary curricular components, using effective teaching methods and reflecting current practices in the automotive field.
- Teaching and maintaining a productive learning atmosphere across various instructional modalities.
Requirements
Education:
- Associate degree in the discipline or related field from accredited institution, preferred.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- 2 years’ experience working in full-service environment, required.
- ASE Certification in at least one of the subject matter areas below, required. (Obtained within 1 year from hire if experience indicated but no certification acquired yet.)
- A1 – Engine Repair
- A2 – Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
- A3 – Manual Drive Train & Axles
- A4 – Suspension & Steering
- A5 – Brakes
- A6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems
- A7 – Heating & Air Conditioning
- A8 – Engine Performance
- A9 – Light Vehicle Diesel Engines
- G1- Maintenance and Light Repair
- F1- Alternative Fuel
- Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred, with pre-planning course work.
- Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
- Comfortable with course delivery method being hybrid as needed
