Overview/Job Summary:
The Academic & Business Coordinator provides support services for NICHE (National Institute for Culinary & Hospitality Education) programs and administrative support for the Culinary Arts Dean, Culinary & Hospitality faculty, and the Director of NICHE business operations. This position requires the ability to work independently with little or no supervision, manage multiple projects, and use discretion/independent judgment in making decisions affecting faculty, staff, and students. This person must be exceedingly well organized and enjoy the administrative challenge of supporting multiple programs.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Provides administrative support to the Culinary Arts Dean and Director of NICHE.
- Provides administrative support to Culinary faculty and NICHE business operations.
- Assists with general department purchasing including comparative pricing, ordering, and picking up of goods as needed.
- Manages all VISA expenses for NICHE programs.
- Manages all purchasing documents and the process for all supplies for the NICHE programs, including processing invoices for payment.
- Manages student uniform ordering and distribution.
- Assists with overall maintenance of the organization, its offices, classrooms and labs including coordinating the repair and maintenance of equipment, as direct liaison between faculty/adjunct faculty and Facilities/IT departments.
- Assists the Culinary Arts Dean with initiating FLAC payroll agreements for designated programs and maintains related records. Works collaboratively with the Pay Agreement Specialist to resolve FLAC pay issues as they arise.
- Performs general clerical duties to include, but not limited to extensive data entry, answering phones, maintaining financial records, inventory management, etc.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Culinary and/or the Hospitality industry. The knowledge gained in this experience will be utilized to assist with procuring supplies/ingredients for culinary labs, WSU Tech operated restaurants in the food hall, and inventory management.
Requirements
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:
- Minimum of two years of administrative experience required, preferably in higher education.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Experience in culinary and/or hospitality industry
- Advanced skills in computer applications, including Outlook, Word & Excel, required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to operate various office equipment, including but not limited to computers, telephone systems, calculators, scanners, copiers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize with strong organization skills.
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion with employee & financial information.
