Full Job Description

General:

The Second Shift Shipping Supervisor at Prestage is responsible for overseeing the shipping operations during the evening shift, ensuring that all items are packed, prepared, and dispatched in a timely manner. This role involves managing a team of warehouse employees and drivers, while also maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and collaborating with other departments. The Second Shift Shipping Supervisor will report directly to the Shipping Manager and is expected to promote safety and efficiency within the warehouse environment.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 8-12 employees to ensure orders are filled accurately and efficiently for poultry processing.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations set forth by USDA, OSHA, DOT, and Homeland Security.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shipping area and dock.
  • Coordinate training programs to enhance team skills in safety, quality assurance, and logistics.
  • Monitor and approve attendance records and manage performance evaluations for shipping staff.
  • Assist in recruitment efforts with HR for open positions within the shipping department.
  • Facilitate accurate and complete shipping documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping and inventory discrepancies efficiently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, promoting a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

Education: Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Management, or equivalent logistics experience (required).

Experience: Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role within a food manufacturing or warehouse environment (preferred).

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial shipping environment.
  • Strong understanding of shipping and receiving processes (required).
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop for prolonged periods.
  • Willingness to work in variable temperature conditions, ranging from 35-40 degrees to 100 degrees.
