Full Job Description
Summary The Refrigeration Technician will provide industrial maintenance support while performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to corrective maintenance (CM), preventative maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance (PDM). Installs and repairs industrial and commercial refrigerating systems, but not limited to plant utilities, ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, steam, water, gas, compressed air, and building systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operate and perform maintenance on boiler condensate return systems boiler feed water systems sack economizers, and chemical injection systems for boilers and cooling towers.
Understand ammonia characteristics, properties, dangers, and know proper handling procedures.
Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system.
Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components and provides long-term corrective action to all levels of equipment/systems utilizing root cause analysis.
Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems as part of the Process Safety Management system and safety policies and procedures.
Maintain KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and score cards to drive continuous improvement.
Ensure USDA regulatory compliance, HACCP, SSOP, SOP, GMP, and SQF program quality, and safety.
Advocate and maintain a strong commitment to safety in the operating process including but not limited to: PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tag out procedures, and Process Safety Management related matters.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school in mechanical and/or electrical field preferred or equivalent related experience. RETA certificate strongly preferred.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and external customers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
