Summary

This position will be with occasional weekend work. 

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance lab programs designed to ensure compliance with SOP’s and GLP’s consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, document and implement programs and procedures to ensure that customer, company and regulatory specifications requirements are met. Performs lab reviews of including vendor quality manuals and company lab records. Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes. Reviews all data/results obtained during all laboratory activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures. Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during lab activities and actions being taken to improve the situation. Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team. Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in lab activities. Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry lab standards.  Designs and implements a laboratory training program to key personnel in conjunction with managers. Coordinate plant lab equipment calibrations and certifications. Other duties may be assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Directly supervises 1-2 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in a related field or knowledge equivalent to such degree; or at least two years related experience and/or training.

Language Skills  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and auditors.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Word Processing software.
