Full Job Description

The Export Clerk plays a crucial role in facilitating the efficient movement of goods from our facility to international markets. This position will involve the management of the documentation, logistics, and internal communication associated with exporting products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining effective coordination between various departments and external partners.

 

Responsibilities:

Export Documentation

·        Prepare and manage all required export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, shipping instructions, and bills of lading as country by country and customer requirement dictate.

·        Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation to comply with international regulations and FSIS requirements.

 

Logistics Coordination

·        Track and monitor daily/weekly shipments to ensure timely documentation needs and resolution of details and help coordinate the scheduling of the expectations from staging to presentation to the FSIS inspectors, preapprovals and document distribution.

 

Compliance

·        Stay updated on export library and FSIS procedures to ensure adherence during the export process.

·        Complete and submit customs declarations and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

 

Communication and Coordination

  • Act as a point of contact between various internal departments (production, sales, shipping) and external stakeholders (freight suppliers, FSIS authorities, shipping department).
  • Communicate shipment details, delivery schedules, and any potential disruptions to relevant parties.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • -          High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in international trade or logistics is a plus.
  • -          Proven experience (usually 1-3 years) in a similar role, preferably in an export-focused environment.
  • -          Familiarity with international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.
  • -          Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing documentation.
  • -          Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • -          Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external partners.
  • -          Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and possibly specialized logistics software.
  • -          Problem-solving abilities to address unexpected issues and ensure the smooth flow of export processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Occasional exposure to cold, wet, heat, and strong odors are present but not for prolonged periods of time.
