Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - West Des Moines, IA (#25113)

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking an OR Registered Nurse to fill an opening with an Outpatient Clinic located in West Des Moines, Iowa
Schedule of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA):
- This is a Full-time position
- Hours per Day: 8.0
- Days per Week: 5
- Weekday Coverage: Monday - Friday; 3:30 PM through 7:00 AM of the following day (15.5-hour shifts)
- Weekend Coverage: Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM the following day (24-hour shifts).
- Holiday Coverage: 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM of the following day (24-hour shifts).
- On-call providers must be available within 15 minutes by phone from the initial contact attempt and on-site within 60 minutes of the initial contact attempt
Responsibilities of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA):
- Direct Patient Care: estimated 95% of the time involved in direct patient care.
- Scope of Care: Contractors CRNA(s) (as appropriate and within the scope of practice/privileging) shall be responsible for providing a full range of anesthesia services for Surgery Services for the following surgical procedures: general surgery, urology, orthopedic, pulmonary, cardiology, vascular, ENT, ophthalmology, and podiatry according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques.
- Essential skills to this position are independent judgment and nursing actions, flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to utilize an interdisciplinary approach in the provision of Anesthesia care. Contractors CRNA will carry responsibilities to staff PACE Clinic as assisted by the Chief of Anesthesia or assigned designee and perform evaluation of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Organizational Relationship: The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist shall report to directly to the Chief of Anesthesia or designee. The CRNA will also report to the Chief of Surgery Service when asked to do so. The services performed by the contractor shall be under the general direction of the Anesthesiologist and/or attending surgeon.
- Clinic and Surgical Care: Contractors CRNA(s) shall provide clinical Anesthesia services. Contractors CRNA(s) shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
- Medications: Contractors CRNA(s) shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
- Discharge education: Contractors CRNA(s) shall provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Anesthesia clinical or surgical patients.
- Communication of Test Results: Mechanisms must be in place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
- Administrative: estimated 5% of the time not involved in direct patient care
- Quality Improvement Meetings: The Contractors CRNA(s) may participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the VA facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.
- Staff Meetings: The Contractors CRNA(s) shall attend staff meetings as required by the VA facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee. The contractor to communicate with COR on this requirement and report any conflicts that may interfere with compliance with this requirement.
- QA/QI documentation: The Contractor's CRNA(s) shall complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcomes of examinations.
- Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting: Contractors CRNA(s) shall follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care. Contractors CRNA(s) shall make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breaches of patient safety shall be documented in the medical records of those impacted and disclosed to the patient or surrogate. As soon as practicable (but within 24 hours) Contractors shall notify COR of the incident and submit an entry in the VA Patient Safety Reporting System, following up with COR as required or requested.
- Contractors CRNA(s) shall be available and present during normal facility hours, which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff. Currently, normal hours are Monday and Friday, 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM

Requirements
- Must have a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree.
- Must be Board Certified /Board Eligible CRNA by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
- Must have a current license to practice nursing in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
- Must have at least 1 year of direct patient care experience as a CRNA within the last 3 years.
- VA experience is desirable
- Must have current active BLS/ACLS certification
- Off-hours Coverage: Must be available on call during all hours when the facility clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
