Overview:

Manage and coordinate surveying procedures and processes, survey employees, and survey subcontractors to ensure projects are surveyed correctly and meet or exceed project requirements. Manage and supervise multiple field crews and the assets required for surveying and machine control. Manage survey schedule, survey subcontractors, manage and maintain surveying and machine control equipment.  Perform all layout calculations for heavy civil construction including bridge deck grades. Perform volume analysis in Civil 3D and prepare presentation drawings.

Assigned Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for the position include, but won’t be limited to, the following:

  • Overall responsibility and management of Civil Group Survey Team
  • Provide insight as a team member on pre-construction schemes.
  • Coordination with owner’s representatives and project team
  • Oversee creation of job-specific documents
  • Verify survey data for site layout
  • Train assistants and provide solutions in directing their work
  • Manage Oversee field crew operations.
  • Review specifications and requirements of proposals
  • Be familiar with front end documents
  • Help in preparation of field as-builts
  • Oversee organization of cataloged data
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Manage and Maintain Survey and Machine Control Assets

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or Land Surveying preferred.
  • 8+ years' experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, Machine Control, or a related field is required with extensive knowledge of surveying and heavy civil construction.  Experience with Transportation Surveys (Road, Bridge for example) is required. 
  • Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage).  Experience preparing, verifying, and providing 3-D computer models for quantity, survey and machine control applications, and GPS modeling/equipment set up is mandatory.
  • Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate and mentor teams.
  • Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Proficient computer knowledge including Survey Software, Microsoft Suite, and AutoCAD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred)
  • Knowledge of point clouds and virtual design
  • Experience in field verifications, site inspections and preparation of as-built drawings
  • Experience with Survey Equipment and Machine Control

Physical Demands:

Involves sitting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching ad lifting.

Can involve lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in the office or field.  Noise levels vary.

Work Hours

General work hours are 7:30am - 5pm and 5–6-day work weeks are standard. Note that work hours and workdays may vary based on critical work activities and/or required safety supervision.
