Job Summary

The Common Market, a nonprofit regional food distributor dedicated to fostering sustainable food systems, is seeking a Sales Outreach Director for the Chicagoland and Southwest Michigan regions. This leadership position will focus on building strategic relationships with a variety of stakeholders including schools, hospitals and community organizations. The Sales Outreach Director will work to expand the reach of The Common Market's mission by promoting the benefits of sourcing local and sustainable food. In this role, you will develop and implement outreach strategies to grow sales in your designated regions, create compelling proposals, and provide exceptional support to our partners. Your strong interpersonal skills and experience in sales and outreach will be key to your success in driving revenue and forging lasting partnerships that contribute to a healthier local food system.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in sales, outreach, or partnership development, preferably within the food and agriculture sector
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of sustainable and local food systems
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an engaging and persuasive manner
  • Experience in project management and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, agriculture, or public health
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the Chicagoland and SW Michigan areas to meet with partners and attend industry-related events
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while being part of a dynamic team environment
