Position Summary
The Graduate Nursing Faculty position is an open rank and track position primary academic responsibilities include classroom teaching and practicum oversight in the graduate program, primarily in the graduate Leadership and Management program, MSN Core Courses, and DNP program. The faculty member will work in collaboration with the other Faculty and the Director of the Graduate Program. Depending on qualifications and need, the faculty member could have additional teaching responsibilities in the DNP program. In addition to teaching, Faculty have responsibilities associated with scholarship and service.
Responsibilities
- Participate in program and course revisions.
- Revise assigned courses to reflect program outcomes, AACN New Essentials, and other professional organizations minimum standards, current evidence, and best practice.
- Collaborate with emphasis concentration coordinators and program directors to identify the types of clinical experiences and sites needed for optimal clinical education of students.
- Teach graduate and possibly undergraduate nursing courses as assigned.
- Supervise nursing students as assigned.
- Student advisement
- Collaborate with clinical agencies in arranging student clinical experiences (e.g., orientation to objectives of clinical experience, course syllabus, clinical schedule, et al.) as appropriate.
- Participate in developing academic policies affecting students' admission, progression, graduation, and dismissal.
- Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the curricula.
- Apply evidence from best education practices to curriculum development and teaching.
- Serve the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS), North Park University (NPU), community, and profession:
- Participate in SNHS faculty, Graduate Nursing standing committees, and other meetings.
- Participate in Faculty Senate Committees and ad hoc committees as elected.
- Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate.
- Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate.
- Contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the Graduate Nursing Programs, the SNHS, and NPU
- Collaborate effectively with other Faculty and staff members within the SNHS throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.
- APRN faculty are required to maintain an APRN practice average - of one day/week (32 hours a month)
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP).
- 2-years' experience as an RN.
- Experience in a nursing leadership role.
- Committed to and an articulate supporter of the university’s mission, identity, and Christian faith commitment.
- Personal commitment to North Park’s mission of Christian higher education.
Preferred
- Experience teaching graduate students, either Capstone or DNP projects.
