Full Job Description
Position Summary
The Staffing and Logistics Specialist supports the Expedition Cruise team by coordinating the recruitment and contracting of A&K’s world-class Expedition team and their related travel arrangements. The Staffing and Logistics Specialist is also responsible for coordinating logistics related to each program, including, but not limited to, the procurement and inventory management of supplies and onboard expedition gear and the shipment of cruise related materials prior to program start date.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Luxury Expedition Cruising Expedition Staff management
- Coordinate the annual recruitment and contracting of all A&K expedition staff
- Coordinate expedition staff travel arrangements and any other program-related items such as requests for payment, processing expense reports, etc.
Expedition Operations and Logistics
- Collaborate with the Expedition Cruise team and other cross-functional teams to ensure the necessary A&K branded materials are produced and delivered to the ship prior to each program’s start date. This may include brochures, shore excursion tickets (if applicable), note cards, envelopes, welcome letters, onboard booking letters, Young Explorer materials etc.
- Work with outside vendors to ensure necessary expedition inventory is ordered and delivered in advance of the operating season and/or each program (e.g. staff uniforms, nametags, expedition gear, vessel flags and banners)
- Maintain detailed inventory of all Expedition Cruise supplies and gear
- Collect and store required trip reports from Expedition Cruise team members
Internal Support
- Support marketing in the procurement of staff biographies and any other requested information for the A&K website
- Track and communicate all staff and supply-related costs for each program including:
- Staff travel costs and wages
- Expedition gear and shipping costs
- A&K marketing materials
Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in verbal and written communication, problem solving, workload management
- Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a collaborative perspective
- Preferred knowledge of expedition cruise operations
- Team player
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline preferred and/or equivalent related industry experience
Special Requirements
- Must maintain a valid passport
- Ability to travel, sometimes with little advance notice
- Must be able to work in our Downers Grove, IL, or Aventura, FL office location.
