The Director of Human Resources at Nova Lines Inc. is a strategic leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's HR strategies and practices. This position involves directing all HR functions, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. The Director of HR will serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, manage HR operations for non-driving positions, and drive initiatives that support the company's growth and development objectives.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Develop and lead HR strategies that support Nova Lines Inc.'s mission and long-term goals.
  • Partner with senior management to address strategic HR needs and contribute to business planning.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance organizational culture, employee engagement, and overall workplace satisfaction.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on HR-related matters, including workforce planning, organizational development, and change management.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract and retain top talent, particularly in the trucking and transportation industry.
  • Develop and implement talent acquisition strategies that align with the company’s growth plans and business objectives.
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new employees by overseeing the development of comprehensive orientation programs.

Employee Relations:

  • Act as a senior advisor to employees and managers on HR-related issues, including conflict resolution and performance management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that foster a positive work environment and uphold company values.
  • Address and resolve complex employee relations issues and grievances, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all employees.

Compliance and Legal:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the review and update of HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with industry standards.
  • Manage audits and inspections related to HR compliance and implement corrective actions as needed.

Training and Development:

  • Identify organizational training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills, competencies, and career growth.
  • Oversee the implementation of training initiatives, including leadership development and succession planning programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Develop and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs that align with company goals and market trends.
  • Conduct regular market research and analysis to ensure compensation strategies remain competitive.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs and address related inquiries and issues.

Performance Management:

  • Lead the development and management of performance appraisal systems to drive high performance and career development.
  • Guide managers in setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and implementing performance improvement plans.
  • Monitor performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.

HR Analytics and Reporting:

  • Utilize HR data and metrics to inform strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on HR activities, employee turnover, and other key indicators to senior leadership.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas of opportunity for enhancing HR practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of HR experience, with a strong background in strategic HR leadership, talent acquisition, employee relations, and compliance. Experience in the trucking or transportation industry is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Extensive knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills with the ability to drive HR initiatives.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
    • Proficient in HR software systems
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
