The Children & Youth Activity Center Team Lead plays a pivotal role in cultivating our culture by exemplifying self-leadership, dedication, integrity, innovation, and a warm hospitality. They are responsible for delivering exceptional service and a sense of security to our members by maintaining a safe, clean, and supervised environment where children can enjoy themselves. Team Leaders should maintain high levels of enthusiasm and vigilance, and actively engage in planning, organizing, and participating in daily activities, special programs, and events within the CAC & YAC. Building relationships with children, colleagues, and members is also a key part of their role. In addition, the Team Lead is responsible for operational oversight, training and development, and employee schedules.

 

Responsibilities

  • Activity Supervision: Monitor and supervise children participating in various activities and play areas. Ensure their safety, well-being, and adherence to the rules and guidelines.
  • Hospitality & Service: Cultivate strong relationships with parents, guardians, children, and staff, upholding the confidentiality of each child and family when necessary. Greet children and their families with warmth, answer questions, and provide assistance to make their visit enjoyable.
  • Maintenance: Keep the activity areas, toys, and equipment clean and well-organized to provide a safe and hygienic environment for children. Follow the daily sanitizing requirements at the start and end of each shift. Be sure to report any risks or building related issues promptly to management, including the need to replace toys, supplies, etc.
  • Assist with Events: Support and assist in organizing special events, parties, and other gatherings involving children as needed.
  • Know & Enforce Rules: Be knowledgeable of all center related rules and guidelines to ensure proper enforcement so that we are providing a safe and respectful atmosphere for all children.
  • First Aid: Possess basic first aid skills and knowledge, and be prepared to respond to minor injuries or incidents. CPR/AED Certification is required and provided by the Club.
  • Communication: Communicate with parents or guardians about their child's participation, behavior, and any relevant information. Be sure to report any injury or behavioral issue on shift promptly to the manager on duty.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and positive experience for all visitors.

 Team Lead Responsibilities

  • Overall Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day activities of staff and children, ensuring efficient operation and adherence to established procedures. Facilitate team meetings and training sessions to promote collaboration, communication, and skill enhancement among staff members. Manage the allocation of tasks and responsibilities, optimizing resources to maintain a balanced and productive workload. Manage inventory levels of supplies, equipment and materials ensuring adequate stock levels and timely replenishment. Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment, identifying maintenance needs and prioritizing urgent safety hazards.
  • Training & Development: Provide ongoing support and guidance to new and existing employees, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Evaluate staff performance and identify areas for improvement, offering constructive feedback and personalized development plans as needed.
  • Schedules: Develop and maintain staff schedules, taking into account availability, ratios, and program needs. Communicate schedule updates and changes to staff in a timely and transparent manner.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Director(s)/Manager.

Requirements

Physical

  • Mobility: The ability to move around, walk, stand, and interact with children and their parents/guardians for extended periods.
  • Lifting: Capability to lift and carry children or equipment when necessary, which may include items such as play equipment or supplies.
  • Bending and Stooping: Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel to attend to children, help them with activities, and maintain a clean and safe play area.
  • Physical Endurance: Stamina to keep up with active children, engage in physical activities, and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for extended hours.
  • First Aid Readiness: Capacity to administer basic first aid, which may include kneeling or bending to tend to minor injuries, such as applying bandages or ice packs.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in handling small objects, toys, and craft supplies, as well as assisting children with fine motor skills activities.
  • Reaction Time: Quick reflexes and the ability to respond swiftly to situations that may require immediate attention, such as preventing accidents or addressing conflicts.
  • Visual Acuity: Sufficient vision to supervise children effectively and ensure their safety, as well as read and follow safety protocols and activity plans.

Qualifications

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with working in a luxury, upscale environment with strong hospitality focus preferred.

REQUIRED:

  • CPR/AED and First Aid training is required (and provided by the Company).
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with families, children and staff, and act as a role model to others.
  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize multiple tasks, works well under pressure, and is able to work in a fast-paced environment maximizing personal and team effectiveness.
  • Exceptional organizational, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely discuss children’s behavior with parents, guardians, and staff.
