Children Specialist

Crisis Nursery is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children Specialist to join our team in providing vital support and care to children experiencing challenging situations. As a nonprofit organization committed to protecting the well-being of children and families, we aim to create a nurturing environment where children can feel safe, valued, and loved. In this role, the Children Specialist will work closely with at-risk youth and their families, helping to facilitate positive interactions, promote emotional and social development, and provide crisis intervention assistance when necessary. Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to children in crisis or need, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
• Facilitate group activities that promote socialization, emotional development, and positive interactions.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other team members to address the needs of children holistically.
• Monitor and document children's progress, behaviors, and incidents, maintaining accurate records.
• Conduct intake assessments and participate in case management meetings to develop strategies for intervention.
• Provide crisis intervention support, guiding children through difficult emotions and situations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience working with children in a professional or educational setting is required.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and trauma-informed care practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children and families.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in crisis situations, utilizing problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with community resources and services available for children and families in need.
• Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment and collaborating with various stakeholders.
