Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, and bronchial provocation tests.
- Calibrate and maintain pulmonary function testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Assist healthcare providers in interpreting test results and making treatment recommendations.
- Educate patients on the purpose of pulmonary function testing and provide instructions for proper test performance.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the testing process.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive respiratory care.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Needs an Associate’s Degree to be a CPFT; additional education or training in respiratory therapy or a related field preferred
- Strong understanding of pulmonary anatomy and physiology
- Proficiency in performing pulmonary function tests and interpreting results
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
