Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team for the night shift. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing respiratory therapy to patients across all age groups, from infants to adults. This role requires a high level of autonomy, as staff members are not closely supervised.
Primary (Essential) Duties:
- Administer conventional and routine respiratory therapy as ordered for patients of all age groups.
- Explain the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients.
- Review patient charts and physician's orders to set up equipment and medications.
- Administer treatments such as oxygen therapy, humidity therapy, airway management, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, and postural drainage.
- Monitor environmental control systems and perform nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning.
- Make regular patient rounds, observe patients, check and adjust equipment as necessary, and solve any problems that arise.
- Discontinue therapy as ordered and properly disassemble and remove equipment from patient rooms.
Work Conditions/Hours:
- Night shifts from 7pm to 7am.
- 12-hour shifts, with the schedule based on department needs.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Permanent licensure by the Idaho State Board of Medicine as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
- Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). If registry eligible, must obtain registry within one year of hire date.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in the adult critical care setting within the last 5 years.
- ICU experience within the last 3 years.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification to be completed within three months of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification to be completed within three months of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification to be completed within one year of hire.
