We are seeking a proactive and analytical Research and Development Intern to join our team, focusing on identifying new opportunities, enhancing our programming, and driving innovation.

Job Summary: The Research and Development Intern will be responsible for conducting research to identify trends, listener preferences, and technological advancements that can enhance our radio station’s offerings. This role involves analyzing data, developing new concepts, and collaborating with various departments to implement innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Research:

o Conduct thorough market research to identify trends in the radio and music industry, particularly within Afrobeat and African culture.

o Analyze listener demographics, preferences, and feedback to inform programming decisions. o Monitor competitor activities and industry developments to keep the station competitive.

Innovation and Development:

o Develop and propose new show concepts, formats, and content ideas based on research findings.

o Identify and evaluate new technologies and tools that can improve the station’s operations and listener experience.

o Work with the programming team to pilot and implement new ideas.

Data Analysis:

o Gather and analyze data from various sources, including audience ratings, social media metrics, and listener surveys.

o Prepare detailed reports and presentations on research findings and recommendations.

o Use data to identify areas for improvement and measure the impact of implemented changes.

Collaboration:

o Work closely with the programming, marketing, and technical teams to develop and execute innovative projects.

o Liaise with external partners, including market research firms, technology providers, and industry experts.

o Provide insights and support for marketing campaigns and promotional activities.

Strategic Planning:

o Assist in the development of long-term strategies to enhance the station’s content and market position.

o Contribute to the station’s overall strategic goals by providing research-based recommendations.

o Stay informed about global trends in media and entertainment to anticipate future opportunities and challenges.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Market Research, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in market research, data analysis, or a similar role within the media industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Afrobeat music, African culture, and the radio broadcasting industry.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
