About the Role

In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a Manager, Communications & Marketing who will elevate awareness of the impact we’re having in partnership with colleges and universities nationwide. The Manager, Communications & Marketing will assist in implementing the organizational and regional communication and marketing strategies. As a member of the Communications & Marketing team, you will have several responsibilities across owned, earned, and paid channels, including social media, storytelling efforts, and the design of marketing materials for a variety of events and initiatives.

This role is on the Communications and Marketing team and reports directly to Managing Director, Communication & Marketing.

What You’ll Do 

Executing annual comms and marketing plans - 20%

  • Assist with creating and implementing annual marketing and communication plans at the regional levels alongside the Managing Director, Communications & Marketing as well as Director, Regional Communications 

Fellow recruitment - 25%

  • Work cross functionally to develop and execute a robust and integrated communications strategy to recruit Fellows into the Braven Accelerator class at our higher education partners, including email campaigns, text campaigns, creating flyers, and monitor progress toward goals 

Social media strategy, monitoring, and execution - 30%

  • Work with MD, Communications and Marketing as well as the Director, Regional Communications to help develop and execute a robust and integrated social media strategy for a portfolio of regions to showcase the impact our partnership with higher ed institutions is having, opportunities for Fellows, and more. 
  • Create assets, manage a social calendar, post and monitor progress toward goals using social media monitoring and posting tools, and adapt course of action using quantitative and qualitative insights. 

Content & collateral creation - 25%

  • Design and maintain high-quality story-telling collateral as it relates to regional contexts and other organizational needs (e.g. blog posts, videos, and other digital and print materials)
  • Collaborate with regional teams to identify members to feature and then connecting with them on an ongoing basis to maintain Testimonial Hub

Requirements

Minimum Requirements 

Bachelor's or equivalent degree required

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience, with a preference for communications or digital media experience in the education, government or nonprofit sector

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working cross functionally
  • Ability to develop strategic communications, marketing and integrated social media plans
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to connect with and communicate with college-aged audience
  • Digital design experience using softwares like Adobe or Canva 
  • Experience with (or appetite to learn) creating communication journeys through marketing platforms (Campaign Monitor, Pardot, Marketo, etc.)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and create and follow through on project plans with strong attention to detail and deadlines
  • You are highly motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, data-driven, and curious
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Exemplification of Braven’s core values.
  • Experience that has informed your belief in Braven’s mission and have prepared you to work with, or for, Braven’s student Fellow population.

Work Demands

  • Ability to work in-person in Atlanta (GA), Chicago (IL), Newark (NJ), or New York City (NYC) at least 3 days per week
  • Ability to travel to annual all-team retreat, quarterly retreats with the External Affairs team, and potentially other regional events several times a year
  • Ability to support the team during high-volume seasons

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Benefits

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position, which depends on prior work experience and our assessment of your demonstrated fit for the role, will likely be between $53,900-$67,300 in Atlanta, $56,600-$70,800 in Chicago, $62,400-$77,900 in New York City or Newark NJ . This is a full-time regular, exempt, and benefits eligible position where you will be working at 100% capacity. Braven offers competitive base salaries based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size, with opportunities for salary growth over time. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and take internal and external equity seriously. Given our commitment to equity, Braven does not negotiate salary offers; instead each salary offer is determined carefully using external and internal benchmarking. You will have an opportunity to discuss salary in more detail after you begin the application process.

Braven also provides competitive, comprehensive benefits, recognition, and career development. While Braven reserves the right to change benefits at any time, current benefits include: 

  • Unlimited vacation time in addition to org-wide holidays and week-long shutdowns in July and the end of the calendar year (this is a minimum of 19 days per year)
  • Match of your 401K contribution up to 5% of your base annual salary, starting your first full month
  • Coverage of 85% of health insurance premium for employee and dependents
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  • A one-month paid sabbatical after 4 years on staff

Location

We gather in the office at least 3 days per week (on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and often work remotely 2 days per week (although certain commitments might adjust that from time to time). Therefore, this role requires teammates to live within commuting distance of one of our hubs: Atlanta, Chicago, Newark, or New York City. We believe in the magic, connection, and collaboration that happens when people work together face-to-face and we believe in giving people flexibility to focus, balance personal priorities, and save themselves two commutes per week.
