Requirements

SolAmerica Energy is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer II. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of solar projects. They will work closely with Project Developers, electrical engineers, land agents, GIS technicians, and CAD designers. Their responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks related to civil design, environmental diligence, permitting, and coordination with various stakeholders.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise an AutoCAD Design Specialists in preparing preliminary site layouts using standardized design assumptions.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Guidance on Civil Site Design:

o   Provide expert guidance to the land team for site selection based on constructability criteria.

o   Assist in the evaluation of potential sites to ensure a high probability of successful project development.

o   Understand the design limitations of standard equipment to ensure early-stage designs constraints are accounted for.

Technical Support in Business Development:

o   Attend meetings with the Business Development team to address technical queries related to civil design.

o   Provide insights into construction schedules, project constraints and equipment selection.

Environmental Diligence:

o   Review early-stage environmental diligence reports and identify high-level risks.

o   Provide feedback to the Development team based on environmental considerations.

Management of Third-Party Consultants:

o   Coordinate with third-party consultants for detailed layouts focused on land use permitting requirements.

o   Oversee civil engineering drawings to ensure they meet our standard design requirements and optimize our site to stay within the project’s budget.

Regulatory Compliance:

o   Possess a comprehensive understanding of NPDES and state/local stormwater management requirements to ensure our site layouts account for it.

o   Provide guidance to the Development Team on navigating environmental permits.

Multi-disciplinary Coordination:

o   Collaborate with other engineers on the team to ensure designs meet all regulatory and project requirements.

o   Coordinate efforts to integrate civil and electrical components seamlessly.

Documentation and Reporting:

o   Review, summarize, and provide guidance on various reports, including Geotechnical reports, Phase 1 ESAs, surveys, and more.

o   Contribute to a lessons learned list to drive continuous improvement in civil site designs.

Quality Control and Monitoring:

o   Contribute to quality control processes to ensure the high standard of all engineering work products.

o   Implement monitoring mechanisms to track and enhance the quality of deliverables.

 

EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE

·         Minimum bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field

·         Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferred

 

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

·         Extensive experience in land development and construction

·         Preferred experience in solar development projects

·         Strong knowledge of civil design principles

·         Excellent project management and team leadership skills

·         Effective communication and collaboration abilities

·         Proficient in CAD
