Join the dedicated team at Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers of Fort Myers, FL and make a difference in the lives of pets and their owners as a Veterinary Technician in our Oncology department. We are a leading family-owned veterinary hospital committed to providing exceptional care and treatment to pets in our community. As a Veterinary Technician in our Oncology department, you will work alongside experienced veterinarians and compassionate veterinary professionals to provide top-notch care for pets diagnosed with cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians in all aspects of patient care, including handling, restraint, and medication administration
  • Collect and record patient history and vital signs
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies for procedures
  • Monitor and document patient progress during and after treatment
  • Perform routine diagnostic procedures, such as blood work, cytology, and radiology
  • Administer treatments, including chemotherapy, under the guidance of veterinarians
  • Assist with specialized procedures like ultrasound, biopsy, and CT scans
  • Monitor patients during anesthesia and post-anesthesia recovery
  • Provide support and education to pet owners facing a cancer diagnosis
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in blood drawing and catheter insertion
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience as a veterinary technician
  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician preferred
  • Previous experience working in an oncology setting highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures and techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
