Full Job Description

Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers is a trusted veterinary hospital committed to providing exceptional care to pets in our community. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine department. As a Veterinary Technician in our Internal Medicine department, you will work closely with our team of experienced veterinary professionals to provide high-quality care to pets with various internal medical conditions.

Responsibilities:

    • Assist veterinarians in performing diagnostic tests and procedures, such as ultrasound, endoscopy, and radiology
    • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for internal medicine procedures that integrate with computer softwares
    • Prepare patients by inserting intravenous catheters, administering induction agents, performing intubation, providing general anesthesia, and anesthesia monitoring
    • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
    • Collect and analyze laboratory samples, including blood work and urine samples
    • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies used in the Internal Medicine department
    • Monitor and document patients' vital signs and response to treatment
    • Provide compassionate care and comfort to pets and their owners
    • Educate pet owners on their pets' medical conditions, treatments, and at-home care

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT or LVT) preferred
  • Experience in a veterinary environment is essential
  • Strong knowledge of internal medicine veterinary procedures and techniques is a plus
  • Proficient in performing intravenous catheter placement, blood draws, intubation, and monitoring during general anesthesia
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and follow protocols
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
