Superintendent

Superintendent role, specifically focused on managing paving operations. This position involves overseeing one or more paving crews and coordinating activities related to asphalt paving for various surfaces such as highways, streets, parking lots, aircraft landing strips, and driveways. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understanding Plans and Specifications:
• Must comprehend project plans and owner specifications to ensure all work meets the required standards.
• Supervision and Compliance:
• Supervise work to ensure compliance with contract specifications, including the supervision and participation in activities to secure this compliance.
• Material and Quantity Assessment:
• Accurately determine material requirements and take-off quantities from project plans and specifications.
• Resource Preparation:
• Prepare detailed resource requirements based on the quantity take-offs and project specifications.
• Coordination of Subcontractors:
• Manage subcontractor activities on jobs, ensuring progress and maintenance according to plan.
• Schedule and Paperwork Management:
• Prepare and submit schedules, material sources, claims, invoices, and other required paperwork to owners or general contractors.
• Financial Oversight:
• Verify subcontractor payments, collect accounts receivable, and analyze estimates versus as-built costs from the job cost system.

This role is critical for ensuring the smooth execution of paving projects, requiring a blend of technical knowledge, management skills, and the ability to coordinate various project facets. The Superintendent must demonstrate strong leadership, an understanding of construction processes, and the ability to work under varied conditions to successfully deliver projects.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in Heavy Highway/Road Construction or a directly related field is required.
• Certifications:
• Asphalt Paving Level 1 & 2 certifications are necessary.
• Traffic Control Supervisor Certification is preferred.
• Educational Qualification:
• A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• Flexibility:
• Willingness to work days, nights, or weekends as required by the project needs.
• Paperwork and Documentation:
• Must be capable of completing all required paperwork efficiently.
• Driving and Mobility:
• Must meet the company’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) requirements and possess a valid Florida driver's license.
