Position Overview
The Lead Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician plays a pivotal role in overseeing
maintenance operations, troubleshooting complex systems, and guiding the
maintenance team. This position combines technical expertise in electrical, mechanical,
and hydraulic systems with strong leadership to drive efficiency and ensure optimal
equipment performance.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance issues during the
shift.
o Lead, direct, and mentor maintenance personnel to execute tasks
effectively.
o Provide on-the-job training for new team members and less experienced
technicians.
o Record and communicate shift activities, ensuring clear and organized
documentation.
Advanced Troubleshooting:
o Diagnose and repair complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and
pneumatic systems.
o Perform advanced PLC troubleshooting, including modifying PLC logic
using appropriate software.
o Address issues with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and AC drive
systems.
Technical Expertise:
o Conduct equipment audits and develop replacement part inventories.
o Install and repair components such as piping, seals, bearings, gaskets,
and electrical wiring.
o Fabricate and weld parts from blueprints using materials like stainless
steel and aluminum.
o Maintain compliance with National Electric Code (NEC) standards for
electrical repairs.
Operational Support:
o Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize tasks and manage
resources.
o Ensure plant systems are in compliance with safety regulations and
company policies.
o Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives, driving continuous
improvement efforts.
o Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production and utility
systems.
Qualifications
Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years as a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician, with
demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
o Strong background in troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and
mechanical systems.
Skills:
o Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
o Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
o Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
methodologies.
o Effective communication and organizational skills.
Education:
o High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred.
Working Conditions:
This role requires frequent standing, walking, and exposure to a manufacturing
environment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Lifting: Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
Environment: Work in a facility with loud noise, extreme temperatures, and
environmental stressors.
Physical Activities: Sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, crouch, reach, and grasp as
needed.
PPE: Wear the required PPE, including eye and hearing protection, gloves, and
safety toe footwear.
Dexterity and Vision: Manual dexterity and specific vision abilities (close,
distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment).
Stamina: Stand for long shifts.
Skills: Effective communication, basic math skills, and teamwork.
Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and address hazards.
