Position Overview:
The Junior Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for assisting students and their families in navigating the financial aid process. This role involves providing support in the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Aid Counseling:
- Provide accurate and comprehensive information to students and families regarding financial aid programs, application procedures, eligibility requirements, and deadlines.
- Assist students in completing financial aid applications (FAFSA) and other required documentation
Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and other stakeholders through in-person, phone, and email interactions
- Address inquiries and resolve issues related to financial aid in a timely and professional manner.
Workshops and Outreach:
- Participate and assist with financial aid workshops, presentations, and outreach events
- Collaborate with other departments to support student recruitment and retention efforts
Professional Development:
- Stay current with changes in financial aid regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in business administration, or related field (preferred)
- Prior experience in financial aid, student services, or a related field is desirable but not required.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication (English and Spanish) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Willingness to learn
