Position Description:

Pole Star Defense’s Security Analyst role is a strategic position centered on vulnerability management, with an emphasis on integrating cloud security, network security, and broader security operations. This professional will be pivotal in conducting comprehensive vulnerability assessments across our network and cloud environments, identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential security weaknesses. The role extends to collaborating with the IT security team and other departments to enhance our defensive posture through rigorous security testing and alignment with industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting detailed vulnerability assessments, identifying, and evaluating potential security risks across cloud and on-premises infrastructures.
  • Implementing, managing, and optimizing security measures to shield systems from identified vulnerabilities, ensuring that defense mechanisms are both robust and current.
  • Collaborating with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure comprehensive security coverage and the integration of unified security strategies across all operational platforms.
  • Continuously monitoring security advisories, alerts, and industry trends to preemptively address potential threats before they impact organizational security.
  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing security policies, procedures, and best practices that underpin an effective vulnerability management strategy, thus bolstering the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
  • Engaging in incident response activities, which include the investigation, documentation, and resolution of security incidents, along with post-incident analysis aimed at preventing recurrences.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on security matters to various organizational stakeholders, thereby fostering a culture of security awareness and adherence to best practices.
  • Remaining flexible and adaptable to take on additional responsibilities that may intersect with other roles within the security team due to the dynamic nature of cybersecurity.
  • Cross-training in other cybersecurity domains to ensure a comprehensive understanding and coverage of all security facets, supporting the team effectively given its size.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of cloud security practices and on-premises security systems.
  • Proficient in vulnerability management tools and practices.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CompTIA CySA+ (or obtained within 6 months)
  • Must be willing to obtain additional security certifications as required by role, or via DoD requirements.

Desired Skills: (Note Mandatory)

  • Experience working with DHS or DoD
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

Travel:

  • Ability for up to 10% travel both domestic and international.

WORK SCHEDULE NOTE:

While this position is scheduled for a traditional Monday – Friday work week, our systems run 24/7/365 and as such, you may be expected to perform out of hours, on-call support on an as needed basis. Additional compensation may be available for working on-call, standby or holiday hours.

This is a Public Trust position and requires completion of a State and Federal Criminal History Report (i.e., background check) and may require a Department of Defense security clearance. Current and future employment will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of both the FBI Summary History Report and if designated, a DoD security clearance.

This position requires use of or access to information subject to the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”). Accordingly, all applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of these regulations.
