The Position?
As a Development/Operational Accountant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our real estate development and property management projects in Florida. The Operational Accountant portion will manage day-to-day accounting functions, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions. The Development Accountant portion will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our development projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the process.
What are we looking for in a Development Accountant?
To excel in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, along with a solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, particularly in the real estate development or affordable housing industry, is preferred.
What will be your responsibilities as a Development Project Accountant?
As a Development Project Accountant at Wendover Housing Partners, LLC, you will be responsible for various financial accounting and reporting tasks supporting our multi-family residential. Your key responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Analyze financial data and provide variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development of property-level budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
Cash Management:
- Monitor cash flow for assigned properties, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and projections.
- Optimize cash management strategies to maximize liquidity and minimize borrowing costs.
Requirements
To qualify for this job, you will need to have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting experience in the real estate industry, preferably with exposure to property management.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
