CJIS ACE supports this mission by ensuring the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of criminal justice information systems used by the public safety community. Our CJIS ACE team works directly with criminal justice agencies, and their vendors, to help them understand the requirements for securing criminal justice information found in the FBI’s CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Policy.
About the role
CJIS ACE is looking for an intern to join our team to assist with supporting our clients and the security of criminal justice information. This assistance will include, but is not limited to, attending project development meetings, communicating directly with local agencies around the country, answering compliance and audit related questions, as well as, configuring and supporting client and agency audit accounts.
As a CJIS Audit Specialist Intern, you will:
- Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the FBI's CJIS Security Policy (CSP)
- Attend project meeting with clients
- Develop project work plans and coordinate audit schedules
- Communicate with agencies regarding upcoming audits
- Organize and read through client documentation to verify compliance with the CJIS Security Policy
- Analyze a client's existing policies for compliance and areas of improvement
- Write up audit and compliance reports for clients
Requirements
This job might be for you, if you:
- Will be graduating from college during the Spring or Summer 2026 term
- Are able to start in January 2025 and can work an average of 15-20 hours per week
- Can commit to a multi-semester internship (at least 2-3 consecutively, including Summer semester)
- Are a confident and professional communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
- Are an avid and fast reader
- Enjoy thinking through processes and creating flow diagrams
- Have an interest in making a positive impact on public safety and law enforcement
- Are organized, detail-oriented, and tenacious – even when you encounter significant hurdles
- Are a team player who enjoys interfacing with numerous departments
- Are able to maintain client and data confidentiality
- Maintain an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Can confidently pass rigorous fingerprint-based state and federal background screenings, as required by the nationwide agencies we work with (mandatory)
- Do not require sponsorship to work in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available for this position
