WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
In a rapidly evolving market landscape, agility, innovation, analytical prowess, top-tier client service, and effective execution are paramount. We seek a meticulously organized, adaptable, enthusiastic, and results-oriented Assistant Controller to bolster our expanding Accounting division. This role entails spearheading our accounting operations within the United States.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Preparation of financial statements for Relm Insurance Solutions Ltd in accordance with GAAP
- Help manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
- Reconcile insurance premium receivables and payables to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare, submit and maintain state surplus line tax filings
- Calculate annual U.S. income taxes.
- Perform monthly and year-end close procedures
- Assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide support as needed
- Participate in audits and provide documentation as requested
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and minimize tax liabilities
- Conduct tax research and analysis to stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations
- Prepare and maintain documentation for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities
- Collaborate with underwriting and claims departments to analyze and report on insurance related financial metrics
- Stay abreast of developments in insurance accounting standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and filings for insurance regulators
Requirements
- BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred
- 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 2+ years in a supervisory position
- 5+ years of experience working in Insurance is required
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Experience with US tax filings and insurance regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in accounting software. Experience with MS Business Central is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced Excel knowledge.
