WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

In a rapidly evolving market landscape, agility, innovation, analytical prowess, top-tier client service, and effective execution are paramount. We seek a meticulously organized, adaptable, enthusiastic, and results-oriented Assistant Controller to bolster our expanding Accounting division. This role entails spearheading our accounting operations within the United States.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Preparation of financial statements for Relm Insurance Solutions Ltd in accordance with GAAP
  • Help manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
  • Reconcile insurance premium receivables and payables to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare, submit and maintain state surplus line tax filings
  • Calculate annual U.S. income taxes. 
  • Perform monthly and year-end close procedures
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports for management
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide support as needed
  • Participate in audits and provide documentation as requested
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and minimize tax liabilities
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities
  • Collaborate with underwriting and claims departments to analyze and report on insurance related financial metrics
  • Stay abreast of developments in insurance accounting standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and filings for insurance regulators

 

Requirements

  • BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred
  • 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 2+ years in a supervisory position
  • 5+ years of experience working in Insurance is required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience with US tax filings and insurance regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software. Experience with MS Business Central is a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced Excel knowledge.
