Full Job Description
St. Luke’s School, a secular, college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12, seeks an exceptional educator to join its Middle and Upper School Math Departments. A successful candidate will join a team of Mathematics teachers known for their extraordinary commitment. Whether the content is Pre-Algebra or Calculus, our Math teachers put students first. It’s the culture of the team that any teacher will meet individually with any student for extra help, even if they’re not teaching the student that year. The Department uses a range of instructional methods, including direct instruction, group work, inquiry-based, and flipped classrooms; the practices in Building Thinking Classrooms inform the approach. This team of math teachers embraces what Seymour Papert has called “hard fun.” The St. Luke’s Upper School Math Team participates in all Fairfield County math meets and also has social outings. Joining this group of colleagues means joining an ongoing conversation about how best to teach math, and how to do it in a way that inspires more hard fun.
