Leave Replacement Job Opening: Upper School Spanish Teacher
mid-September to mid-December, 2024 (approximate)
St. Luke’s School, a secular, college-preparatory day school serving grades 5 through 12 in New Canaan, Connecticut, seeks a Spanish teacher to cover 4 Upper School classes.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Teach 4 Upper School Spanish classes (about 10-14 students per class), primarily Spanish 3 and Honors Spanish 3, which are mainly 10th graders.
- Maintain an open online gradebook, attend faculty meetings, administer and grade assessments.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences via Zoom in November.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Interest in working with adolescents
Salary:
$1,500 per week
Dates:
This position is to cover a parental leave, so the dates are approximate. Candidates should be available as early as September 4 and as late as December 20, 2024.
Schedule:
Each Upper School class meets 3x week, and each class meeting is 1 hour long. St. Luke’s has a rotating two-week schedule so the schedule is different each day within the two-week period. Normal work hours during a leave replacement are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 3:00pm, though some flexibility may be possible.
