Summary of Position:

We’re thrilled to expand our exceptional team at Alvarium Roasting Company and are on the lookout for a dynamic individual to join us. If you have a passion for specialty coffee, a knack for bringing positive energy, and a drive to make our guests absolutely delighted, we want to hear from you!

The role will primarily be at our Gastro Park location in West Hartford, but occasional shifts at our main café in New Britain may be required. A love for early mornings and weekend availability is essential. We offer competitive hourly pay between $16 and $17, depending on experience, plus tips. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Barista at Alvarium you will prepare and serve specialty coffees and related products to our guests and will be expected to:

• be highly knowledgeable about our products, as well as allergy concerns, in order to educate guests and make recommendations
• have a friendly and engaging personality
• be committed to consistently providing an exceptional guest experience
• be comfortable working efficiently in a fast paced environment
• be able to operate coffee and tea brewing equipment safely and accurately
• pay close attention to details and maintain a clean, safe and organized environment
• monitor stock levels, potential equipment maintenance needs, staffing needs and guest feedback and communicate needs and issues appropriately with management

Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a specialty (third wave) coffee shop strongly preferred. Service industry experience is a must!
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Exceptional interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Flexibility to cover some weekday shifts is helpful, but not required. A strong attendance track record is essential.
• Knowledge of coffee and tea brewing equipment operation preferred.
• Excellent active listening skills and good memorization and recall skills.
• Experience working with a point of sale systems.
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs. unassisted.
• Weekend availability required.
